Toowoomba Acupuncture and Cupping

Discussion about Acupuncture and Cupping in Toowoomba

The following findings were presented in an article in Volume 8 Issue 2, 2013 of the Australian Journal of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. The article was entitled “Does Chinese medicine Share features and Effects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Using Traditional Acupuncture as an Example”.

Studies indicate that at the completion of a course of traditional acupuncture treatment the majority of patients reported reduced physical symptoms, but also an improved sense of wellbeing; Such improvements lead to enhanced confidence and reduced reliance on medications. Physical, emotional and social changes are considered by patients and the researchers to be inter-dependent and indivisible, which further reinforce self-reliance. As you can see, the effects of acupuncture are generally quite positive at all levels – physical, mental, emotional and social.  I remember the definition of “good health” from my high-school days, where we would all recite parrot-fashion “Good health is the state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing, not merely the absence of disease and sickness”. It appears to me now that that definition may reflect the outcome of a course of traditional acupuncture treatments, including cupping.

Many of my patients ask me about the derivation of the name of my Clinic i.e. ANTRAC.

It is an anagram for Alternative Natural Therapy, Relaxation & Acupuncture Clinic. There are also a lot of my patients that ask about the Chinese symbol in my logo. It is the Chinese character for “longevity”.  I aim to help all of my patients attain the longevity that they deserve.

Acupuncture in Australia has come a long way since I graduated in 1982. When I first graduated many people thought (incorrectly) that I was involved in witchcraft, and that I used bizarre techniques to treat my patients. Four decades down the track the practice of acupuncture has been approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Australian Commonwealth Government, and been shown to be a positive healing modality for the treatment of many medical conditions.

I aim to keep you informed about research findings as they come to my attention. It really does not matter where you live now, there is generally an acupuncturist in you vicinity. So long as they are registered by the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association Ltd (AACMA). The Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association Ltd is the peak professional body of qualified acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine practitioners in Australia. AACMA has represented the profession since 1973 and values high standards in ethical and professional practice.

More than 2,200 acupuncturists and Chinese medicine practitioners are members of AACMA. High standards of education and practice are maintained by AACMA-accredited practitioners due to the profession’s determination to provide excellence in acupuncture and TCM health care.

The Chinese medicine profession joined the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for the Health Professions on 1 July 2012. This is the same scheme that regulates medical practitioners, physiotherapists, chiropractors, dentists, nurses and midwives etc. Chinese medicine practitioners must now be registered with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) in order to offer acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine services to the public.

To find a registered acupuncturist or Chinese herbal medicine practitioner in Australia, use the AACMA Practitioner Search

To confirm that your acupuncturist practitioner is actually qualified and suitably trained (over a 4 year university degree) to insert acupuncture needles into your body, please confirm that they are truly qualified as an ACUPUNCTURIST by checking the “Register of practitioners” at the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) website: https://www.ahpra.gov.au/registration/registers-of-practitioners.aspx

The Earth is a Bountiful Reserve of Natural Healing Elements

I believe that the Earth is a bountiful resource, resplendent with natural healing elements, and I use many of those natural resources in my treatment program. They include acupuncture needles and glass cupping jars made from various minerals from the Earth, and herbs including Artemisia vulgaris which is used for moxibustion to warm “cold” conditions and to move “stagnant” conditions. I also use Earthing Substitute Products which allow the transfer of naturally-occurring free electrons stored in the Earth into the body through Earthing Pads (aka Grounding Pads) and Earthing Patches (aka Grounding Patches).

I also use TDP Lamps which contain a earthen clay disc which irradiates the body with a natural array of healing electromagnetic frequencies. I also suggest that ALL of my patients include the consumption of fermented probiotic foods daily in their diet for optimal gastrointestinal and immunological health. 80% of our immunity comes from our gut microbiome, or the microorganisms that bathe our skin and occupy surfaces throughout our body. Remember they are “good” bacteria, yeasts, fungi and viruses. Below is a photograph of me in Bali, where I was able to source several fermented probiotic foods over the counter from the local market. So please explore my website. I have covered all of the major health areas and present recent medical findings that are sure to answer your questions.
