 What is San Jiao’s Function & Role? How does San Jiao Organ Regulate Water?

A Simple Molecule with Profound Structural Complexity

There is a mysterious polar inorganic odourless chemical compound that is nearly colourless with a hint of blue that defies many of the laws of physics and chemistry. Incredible Properties of Water

The article titled “Water” (2) states the following:

Water expands 9% in volume as it freezes, which accounts for the fact that ice floats on liquid water. (It is for this reason, the glass bottle of wine in the freezer will crack due to the expansion of the liquid contents).

Light in the visible electromagnetic spectrum can traverse a couple meters of pure water (or ice) without significant absorption, so that it looks transparent and colorless. Thus aquatic plants, algae, and other photosynthetic organisms can live in water up to hundreds of meters deep, because sunlight can reach them.

 Infrared and ultraviolet light, on the other hand, is strongly absorbed by water.

The hydrogen bonds are also the reason why the melting and boiling points of water are much higher than those of other analogous compounds like hydrogen sulfide (H₂S). They also explain its exceptionally high specific heat capacity (about 4.2 J/g/K), heat of fusion (about 333 J/g), heat of vaporization (2257 J/g), and thermal conductivity (between 0.561 and 0.679 W/m/K). These properties make water more effective at moderating Earth’s climate, by storing heat and transporting it between the oceans and the atmosphere.

All known forms of life depend on water. Water is vital both as a solvent in which many of the body’s solutes dissolve and as an essential part of many metabolic processes within the body. Metabolism is the sum total of anabolism and catabolism.

In the article titled ‘What is Hexagonal Water and How to get it?’ the author Martin Riny (3) states:

Generally, water contains some percentage of these hexagonal units, although they may differ where some water has more than others do. A number of factors like toxin levels, motion, mineral content and the energetic influences that the water is exposed to may bring about this difference. Chlorine, fluoride and other pollutants destroy the ability of water to form these hexagon units. This is especially the case with municipal water that contains high percentages of chlorine and fluoride minerals hence making the water to possess very low percentage of hexagonal structures.

Riny (3) explains that another important parameter that influences the structure of water molecules is the temperature. He notes that at 10 degrees Celsius 22% of water is hexagonally structured, at 0 degrees Celsius (freezing point) 26% of water is hexagonally structured, and at -30 to -40 degrees Celsius the water is 100% hexagonally structured.

Healthy Vital Water Presents as Hexagonal Units

In the article titled ‘Evidence of the Vortexing Effect’, Hatton (4) states:

Hexagonal water, as shown in Fig. 2, is unique in that it consists of a tightly hydrogen-bonded network and a specific arrangement of individual water molecules where 6 H₂O units consistently link to form a ring-like structure. Essentially, it is more organized than ‘normal water’, forming a crystalline lattice like that found in pure rain and fresh snow. The number of hexagonal units in the water determines its ability to enter the cells in the body. The hexagonal structure is easily destroyed by environmental contaminants and modern water treatment processes, which is the reason most water has few hexagonal units.

The hexagonal water has a structure as is seen opposite.

The Triskelion or “Spiral of Life”

The article titled ‘How to Structure Your Water’ (5) notes that if you have had the opportunity to relax and observe a river or waterway, you will have noticed the spiral vortexes that regularly occur in sets of three. Many natural occurrences happen in sets of three. The number “3” is the epitome of balance. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) the number three represents completeness and the philosophical harmony between Heaven, Earth and Man. Below are three different forms of the triskelion (5).

Regards the number three, there are 12 organs recognized by TCM. They are the solid Tsang organs – Heart, Pericardium, Spleen, Lung, Kidney and Liver. The hollow Fu organs are Small Intestine, Triple Heater, Stomach, Large Intestine, Bladder and Gall Bladder. The Triple Heater is also called San Jiao, Sanjiao, Three Heater, Triple Burner, Triple Warmer, and more recently the World Health Organisation named the organ Triple Energizer. Note that San Jiao is the ONLY organ that has a number in its name. I believe that the Triple Energizer truly represents the “spiral of life”, for it is the very first organ to be formed during embryogenesis, and it circulates the vital life-sustaining energy called Original Qi or Yuan Qi.

Why do I raise this point in the discussion about the mysterious properties of water? I am glad you asked that question. Have you heard your doctor talk about your San Jiao being unwell after your annual check-up? The San Jiao is bathed in mystery, even in China, and there are numerous opinions about what the organ is, and as to its location in the body there is massive confusion. In fact many TCM practitioners do not even accept that it is a real organ, and believe that it is just a group of biological functions that pertain to all of the other “real” organs. In the TCM medical classic, the Su Wen states ‘The San Jiao is the official in charge of irrigation and it controls the water passages’ and it is also called the ‘Minister of Dykes and Dredges’. Here the terms “irrigation” and “water passages” refer to all of the body fluids present throughout the entire body – tears, saliva, sweat, digestive juices, blood, lymph, semen, urine, finger print residue etc.

So here we have a vague “mysterious” organ that controls the equally “mysterious” chemical substance called “water” that happens to make up 99% of our body, on a molecule-per-molecule basis. Yet to this day, this organ-energy system is not officially recognized in Western physiology. In my book I discuss the actual composition and location of this very real organ metasystem that is actually the largest organ system in the body, just as ancient TCM sages believed. I propose that the San Jiao is one-and-the-same as the Connective-Tissue Metasystem, which is composed of hydrophilic (water-loving) connective tissue which the ancient TCM sages called “membranes”.
